The Eurovision Song Contest 2021 will take place as usual and will take place in days from 18
May 22. The decision to hold the competition offline, i.e.
"B" was adopted by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the Dutch
leading broadcasters and the city of Rotterdam.
"The health and safety of all participants is a top priority" -
said in a press release. Organizers intend to focus their efforts
increase safety by introducing a social distance and reducing
number of journalists who will be able to cover the event. Organizers also
note that the decision on the number of spectators at rehearsals and main shows
will be accepted later.
"Eurovision Song Contest" is sure to return in May of this year,
despite the pandemic, but under the circumstances, unfortunately,
it's impossible to hold an event the way we're used to it," Martin said.
Osterdal, executive supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Earlier, the organizers of the competition reported that according to the "B" scenario, the performers
songs will perform on stage, and the arena itself can be filled with spectators
only 80%. At the same time, all participants of the event will have to comply with the
a distance of one and a half meters.
This year, all competitors are also encouraged to stay
quarantine five days before flying to the Netherlands. It is also necessary
provide a negative test for COVID-19 with a maximum of 72 hours before the flight.
On arrival
to the Netherlands, delegations must stay in their hotel, with the exception of
when they go to the Ahoy Arena for rehearsals, live shows and other
activities related to the program.
All staff working in the arena, including the press, will be regular
to test for coronavirus.
In cases where COVID-19 is detected, the isolation protocol will come into force. If
the participant will not be able to perform live, a backup will be used
recording of the performer.
