There is a new tendency to label anything that is politically incorrect, as Hate Speech.
I was reading an article about the differences of so called Hate Speech and Freedom of Speech.
https://www.theweek.co.uk/97552/hate-speech-vs-free-speech-the-uk-laws
According to the "Human Rights Act 1998" in Great Britain, you can say what you like, but what you say might be subject to formalities or restrictions.
What the hell does that mean ?
I follow a simple rule, my freedom ends where another the freedom of another persons starts.
What I mean is that I will say what I feel, as long as it is not intended to hurt someone else. If it hurts someone, I am sorry, it was not intentional, but dont jail me for it.
This is how I was brought up.
But I was also brought up to believe that we should all take care of ourselves.
If I am offended by what someone else says, I will not go to the government and cry on their shoulder asking for intervention - I will tell the person who offends me, to stop doing it.
What we have done as a society to protect everyone from everything is just ridiculous.
Many years ago, if I was offended I would stop listening. Or I would punch the offender in the nose.
Now the offender can get jailed for saying something that is found as offensive.
The problem is that we dont know who might get offended by what. That is why there is another term used these days called a snowflake. We are afraid to speak our opinion on things, because other people might be offended.
This is the best part, read this: under new legislation, those that offend others could face a jail sentence of up to three years, although the law doesn't cover private conversations such as between friends and family.
This is a golden gift from the government - I can talk to my family about my opinions without facing a jail sentence.
All this nonsense is a double edge sword.
Today this legislation might save someone from being offended, but tomorrow that same person might be jailed because someone else might be offended.
I really miss the good old days where people took care of themselves.
Have a listen to this video, its really hilarious, I miss those good old days - https://youtu.be/ceS_jkKjIgo

I comment a specific event or phenomenon as I see it, without trying to label it as left or right.
I believe in the freedom of speech.
